Nicholas Connon is coordinating a private networking group for students and alumni of Indiana University Purdue University Indianapolis (“IUPUI”) and Indiana University (“IU”) in Bloomington. This private initiative is designed to facilitate networking and support between students and alumni. The group is called the DEI Networking Group because it is focused on networking skills for those who are particularly interested in diversity, equity and inclusion issues. The group meets by Zoom once per month as a full group, with a member of the group making a short presentation about a topic of interest or within his or her expertise, including those related to diversity, equity and inclusion. Additionally, members are then assigned to small groups after each full group meeting (usually in groups of 3, with 1 alumnus and 2 students) to meet also by Zoom before the next full group meeting. The smaller group meetings are designed to allow alumni and students to get to know each other better, explore ways to support professional development, secure internships and employment, and build long-term and sustainable relationships between the students and alumni.
IUPUI/IU students and alumni are welcome to join the DEI Networking Group.
