Peter E. Schnaitman

Mr. Schnaitman handles trials and complex litigation matters with an emphasis on appellate litigation; defense of products liability, toxic tort, occupational exposure, and pharmaceutical cases; and class action defense. Prior to joining the firm, Mr. Schnaitman was associated with the law firms of Tucker Ellis & West/Arter & Hadden in Los Angeles, Snell & Wilmer in Irvine, and Kegler, Brown, Hill & Ritter in Columbus, Ohio.

 

Highlights of Mr. Schnaitman’s notable professional achievements include the following:

 

• Won the dismissal of Firm’s clients in four multi-defendant work-place toxic exposure
  cases;

• Acted as primary counsel representing a generic pharmaceutical company with the
  coordination of all nationwide litigation concerning a recalled drug;

• Represented pharmaceutical and automobile manufacturers with the coordination of
  nationwide product liability litigations;

• Participated in all phases of several trials through verdict and appeal, including the
  trial of an antitrust case brought against a telecommunications company, an
  easement dispute, a defamation action against a state university, a product liability
  action against manufacturers, and a dispute over a partnership agreement;

• Tried a breach of contract bench trial;

• Represented a pharmaceutical company in a theft of trade secrets dispute relating to
  a second generation COX-2 inhibitor drug;

• Represented the State of Ohio at the trial and appellate court levels in classifying the
  claim priority of state entities in the liquidation of an insolvent insurer;

• Obtained summary judgments for a generic pharmaceutical manufacturer based on
  the federal preemption of the plaintiffs' state law causes of action;

• Authored a number of publications, including "Building a Community Through
  Workplace E-Mail: The New Privacy Frontier," 5 Mich. Telecomm. & Tech. L. Rev. 177
