Ms. Bucksbaum co-chairs the firm’s Coverage Practice Group with David Scheidemantle. She has spent over 20 years litigating all types of complex business disputes, and now focuses her practice on counseling clients on insurance coverage matters. She represents and advises corporate policyholders with respect to all aspects of coverage, from coverage applications to allocating coverage of large claims among multiple insurers. She has obtained, collectively, nearly $100 million of coverage for clients. Other areas of focus include counseling and litigation in the areas of unfair competition, intellectual property, and products liability.
Ms. Bucksbaum’s recent successes include:
• Recovering from insurers full defense costs incurred by a client in a multi-million • Obtaining coverage of defense costs at full market rates in an environmental • Litigating a multi-million dollar government contract dispute to favorable settlement; • Winning denial of certiorari from the U.S. Supreme Court after filing written opposition
Ms. Bucksbaum began her career as a legislative analyst in Washington, D.C., where she worked for former Congressman Les Aspin and then represented energy industry clients on legislative and regulatory matters. In Los Angeles, she spent ten years practicing with large national firms, including Proskauer Rose LLP, where she and her colleagues at Connon Wood Scheidemantle LLP, first practiced together. In 1992, she co-founded Bucksbaum & Sasaki LLP, a litigation boutique firm in Century City. In 1998, Ms. Bucksbaum co-founded a publishing enterprise, where, as legal counsel, she handled domestic and international licensing transactions as well as intellectual property issues, and as co-manager, she gained valuable insight into the business issues her clients face daily. |
