David
Scheidemantle Elected Chair of Los Angeles Children's Chorus
The Los Angeles Children’s Chorus (LACC), a California
not-for-profit corporation, has elected David
Scheidemantle Chair of its Board of Directors for the
2009-2010 season. During the 2008-2009 season, David
served as LACC’s Vice Chair and Chair Elect and Co-Chair
of the organization’s Governance Committee. LACC’s
mission is to educate, develop, and inspire musically
talented children to attain the highest level of choral
artistry. Since its founding in 1986, LACC has educated
more than 1,000 young singers and currently includes 250
choristers in five ensembles from communities across the
greater Los Angeles area. Considered one of the nation’s
leading children’s choirs, LACC has appeared in more
than 300 performances with such renowned organizations
as the LA Opera, Los Angeles Philharmonic, Los Angeles
Master Chorale, Hollywood Bowl Orchestra, Los Angeles
Chamber Orchestra, and many others. The Los Angeles
Times states, “When it comes to purity of tone,
hauntingly beautiful timbre and the ability to transport
listeners to a kind of aural nirvana, the Los Angeles
Children’s Chorus occupies a special place in LA’s
musical life.” Esa-Pekka Salonen has said, “This is the
best children’s chorus I have ever heard.” Placido
Domingo says, “It’s a wonderful, wonderful chorus . . .
they sing so well and bring happiness and something
beautiful to the Opera.” See
